Stanton, is presenting to professionals from a variety of fields, including corporate environments, nonprofit organizations, municipal and government employees and education, who are joining together to explore the best ways to bring equality into our workplaces and our lives, on September 29, 2007.
The Out and Equal Workplace Summit is widely recognized as the world's premier conference on LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender) workplace equality, providing a unique opportunity to build alliances, share ideas and take actions that foster safe and equitable work environments for everyone. The 2007 Summit is expected to attract over 2,000 participants in Washington, D.C. for three days of informative workshops taught by leading experts; unique and enjoyable networking functions; and inspirational, unforgettable speakers. For more information on the upcoming Summit, visit www.outandequal.org. Stanton will be presenting at "Workplace Transition in (and Out of) the Spotlight". She will be discussing her experience and her life as a transgender public official. This is a panel discussion with transpeople who have transitioned in and out of the public eye. Panelists will discuss circumstances around their workplace gender transition, including handling the media and workplace attention, managing their private emotions, fielding public antipathy and support, and maintaining workplace equilibrium. Panelists will offer advice to keep in mind if someone is transitioning in your workplace. As the former Largo, Florida city manager who was fired when news broke of her plans to transition from a man to a woman, Stanton is currently entertaining and educating audiences nationwide through keynote speeches and presentations on diversity, authenticity and change acceptance. Stanton is also working with CNN on a year-long documentary of her life in transition and is finalizing a book based on her experience as a transgender public administrator.
